RESEARCH AND TEACHING BACKGROUND
Research experience concurrent with ophthalmic residency namely, N.I.H. Research Fellowship for
three years. This consisted of research in glaucoma and in laser technology. Teaching experience
has comprised of an affiliation as a clinical associate professor with the Department of
Ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina Medical School 1979, the responsibility of which
has been assisting of residents in their surgery at Dorothea Dix Hospital. Other endeavors have
included participation in the Retinitis Pigmentosa Clinic at the Duke Eye Center in 1974 as Clinical
